Cottages in Richmond North Yorkshire
The Old Cello Workshop and Garden Cottage,
nestling in the lovely old market town of
Richmond.
The rapid flowing River Swale
curls around the town as it wends its way
from the verdant Swaledale meadows
to join the River Ure at Boroughbridge.
Perched above the river is the Norman castle,
founded in the 11th century by Alan Rufus.
The cobbled market square is surrounded by shops
and is the home to the
Regimental Museum of the Green Howards.
Local history is in the Richmondshire Museum,
and the Georgian Theatre Royal and Museum
is one of the oldest theatres in England.
The Old Cello Workshop and Garden Cottage
are just a few minutes walk from
the river and lovely walks around Richmond,
including a beautiful riverside walk to
the ruined abbey at Easby and the
ancient church of Saint Agatha.
Two cinemas, a restaurant, cafe, ice cream parlour,
micro brewery, bakery and art gallery
are all housed under the roof of the recently
renovated Victorian station. It's full steam ahead
for the terminus that welcomed its
last train more than forty years ago!
