Also in the town are the Green Howards Regimental Museum, Richmond Castle, Richmondshire Museum, Easby Abbey and the converted Victorian station, which houses three cinema screens, artisan shops and a popular café bar.
This pretty, Victorian gardener’s cottage stands in the former kitchen garden of Yorke House. The south-facing, enclosed garden gives spectacular views of Richmond Castle and Billy Banks Woods. Guests are invited through the picket gate to explore the owners’ 1-acre award winning garden.
Views east are of Richmond Castle and the magnificent Norman keep – rise early to see the sun piercing the great, arched window.
The cottage front door opens into a stone flagged passage leading to the garden and well-fitted kitchen, lounge/dining room and downstairs loo. A door from the kitchen leads upstairs to en-suite master bedroom, second double, twin and family bathroom with bath and separate shower.
In the cosy lounge/ dining room you’ll find a piano (regularly tuned) Wi-fi, TV/DVD, Radio/CD, Ipod Dock. The cottage’s secure stone corridor can accommodate bike, boots, coats and pushchair and is a great place for damp dogs to dry off.
Outside the pretty, enclosed, south-facing garden has patio table and chairs, lawn with superb Monkey-Puzzle tree, roses, apple trees and flowery borders – perfect for evening drinks, dining al fresco or just a laze with a good book!
