Guest Comments

"No wonder the comments are so effusive! Everything is so well thought out at the cottage. We were ever so comfortable - those thick towels, brill! - and delighted in wandering around the garden paths. We appreciated that we could just walk from here to restaurants, no need to take car in the evening. Thrilled to see the art and building of Bowes Museum, our reason for coming. Beautiful walks along the banks of the Swale. Will go for another swim at lovely Richmond Pool and visit Barnard Castle on our way home. Thanks to Marcia and Dennis for such a perfect time. We were amazed at the wealth of information provided in cottage guidebook and brochures etc."

"Excellent cottage - clean, well-equipped and great location for walking along the river or wandering around the cobbled streets of Richmond. Visited Ripon, Hawes, Leyburn, Thirsk, Bedale. Great meals in the Kings Head Hotel, Richmond and the Fox Hall Inn, East Layton on the A66. Will visit again."

"Had a lovely week at this delightful cottage. The dogs loved the garden and the boys enjoyed playing the piano. Cottage is very comfortable and there was plenty of room for a family of six. Had lovely walks to Easby Abbey and through Billy Banks Woods. Can recommend the Black Lion Hotel for meals (it's best to book) and the Mocha Cafe for coffee and cake. Can't wait to come back next year. Thank you so much."

"Another wonderful week at Garden Cottage. Holiday began with a wonderful lunch at the CB Inn followed by a walk at Tan Hill. Sunday lunch at home with friends followed by a beautiful walk to Easby Abbey. Malham Cove, Janet's Foss and Gordale Scar on Monday. Good old Barney on Tuesday. Wednesday took us on a road trip via Surrender Bridge into Swaledale, then to Muker via the Buttertubs, to Cotter Force, Hardraw Force through Wensleydale to Aysgarth Falls. On to West Burton waterfalls, Castle Bolton, then home! Thursday, Raby Castle and Cow Green reservoir - absolutely magical. Friday back home. Thank you Marcia and Dennis. Can't wait to be back in August."

"This is our first visit to Garden Cottage. We had a lovely week walking. It's been nice to park the car and not worry about having to get back because of time on the ticket. this is a lovely cottage - cosy and homely, and we have to come back again. Everyone so friendly and meeting lots of people and dogs. And weather has been warm - nice all week. We had food in the Bishop Blaize - they make everything fresh on site but if you want Sunday roast you need to book. Crossview Tea Room nice. Thank you."

"We have had a marvellous holiday at Mr. Yorke's Garden Cottage. A real home-from-home. We have enjoyed the beautiful garden and the views, castles and museums have been explored. Do visit Bowes Museum and the Georgian Theatre here in town. Restaurants have been variable, but can recommend Rustique and The Fleece was excellent. Only regret? Not seeing enough of the beautiful doggies!"
