Garden Cottage

Garden Cottage faces south with views across the garden to Billy Banks Woods. The view east is of Richmond's Norman castle - the rising sun pierces the great, arched window. it is ideally placed with town to the east and countryside south and west - all just a few minutes walk from the front door.

This pretty, Victorian gardener's cottage was built in the former kitchen garden of Elizabethan Yorke House. The cottage looks over a secure, south-facing private garden with spectacular views of Richmond castle & Billy Banks Woods...

Guest Comments

"No wonder the comments are so effusive! Everything is so well thought out at the cottage. We were ever so comfortable - those thick towels, brill! - and delighted in wandering around the garden paths. We appreciated that we could just walk from here to restaurants, no need to take car in the evening. Thrilled to see the art and building of Bowes Museum, our reason for coming. Beautiful walks along the banks of the Swale. Will go for another swim at lovely Richmond Pool and visit Barnard Castle on our way home. Thanks to Marcia and Dennis for such a perfect time. We were amazed at the wealth of information provided in cottage guidebook and brochures etc."

- Richmond Break Away

"We all had a great time in this lovely cottage. It was everything we wanted and more. The beds were amazing and we slept and slept. So good being so close to everything."

- A Very Relaxing Stay!

"Splendid cottage, well appointed, warm and comfortable...and then there's the garden - an unexpected area of loveliness. Close enough to the centre of Richmond, but tucked away enough for quiet. Definitely, and for all of us, the must stay place for any return trip to Richmond."

- Family Group

"Amazing family holiday at Garden Cottage. Ideal base for all age groups and 4-legged friends! Still lots to see so will be planning a return visit in the future."

- Family Holiday

"We have had a marvellous holiday at Mr. Yorke's Garden Cottage. A real home-from-home. We have enjoyed the beautiful garden and the views, castles and museums have been explored. Do visit Bowes Museum and the Georgian Theatre here in town. Restaurants have been variable, but can recommend Rustique and The Fleece was excellent. Only regret? Not seeing enough of the beautiful doggies!"

- A Week's Stay in Richmond

"Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! What a fabulous place, we were blown away. Cottage surpassed all expectations, everything we needed and wanted for a holiday. Richmond is a beautiful place, lots of fab walking around town, views around every corner. We loved the walk to the George and Dragon...those steps! So good we did it twice, even in wet weather - call us foolish - ha ha! The food, what can I say? We never had a bad meal - even the fish and chips and pizza takeaway were great. We liked Rustique for an upmarket option. The Black Lion and Castle Tavern provided a great pub meal. Mocha for excellent coffee and chocolate. And must mention the Pie Shop in the square - so good. We will be back. Thank you so much for letting us stay. xxx"

- Family Half Term Holiday
