About Us

Dennis and I live in Richmond next to Garden Cottage. We lived in the cottage for around a year - and we like to be comfortable! - while we were building ourselves a new home, Mr. Yorke's Walled Garden (named for John Yorke, who built the 18th century walled kitchen garden for his Elizabethan home). We have made sufficient progress to open the garden for local causes and charities and in 2019 we received a Yorkshire In Bloom Gold Award for the gardens.

We have good knowledge of Richmond & the Yorkshire Dales - the town is on the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park - which we can share with our guests, including where the best restaurants, pubs and tea rooms are to be found. If we are away, you can still get in touch with us if you have any problems, and we can usually resolve them - even from a distance!

Dennis runs his own business & I run our cottage business, help Dennis with his business and am kept busy looking after the garden.

Our Golden Retriever and Aussiedoodle love our garden & all the local walks. We enjoy walks in the dales, the cinema & theatre as well as time with family and friends, and we love living in Richmond!
