A young guest staying in Garden Cottage, Richmond declared Mr. Yorke's Walled Garden to be 'magic' following exploration with his grandma in the acre walled garden that guests staying at the cottage can enjoy.

Having hunted through the garden he easily found the sleeping fox and the oh so still dinosaur, but the earless bunny proved more difficult. Armed with instructions from their hosts, the young man set off again and found bunny hiding in the shrubs.

Garden Cottage is built in the grounds of the walled garden, which was built to provide produce for Yorke House, which stood down he bank by the River Swale. Following demolition of the house, the garden became a nursery, which fell out of use. Owners Dennis and Marcia have redesigned the garden, which they now open occasionally for charity. This year's opening raised over £2,000 for Richmond MayFest, a weekend long event that takes place every year the first bank holiday weekend in May. The event takes place in Richmond Castle, the Market Place and venues around the town celebrating  traditional music, story telling and dance. Find out more at www.richmondmayfest.org
